About
Melissa Tinambacan is a Filipino-Canadian documentary filmmaker currently based in the mountain west and a recent graduate of Brigham Young University’s Media Arts program. As an artist, she is passionate about empathetic and aesthetic storytelling and seeks to expand the boundaries of nonfiction as an art form. She aims to question the institutions that exist in our culture through an intimate lens, focusing on issues of community and identity. As a cinematographer, her work has screened at DOCNYC, CAAMFest, and New Orleans Film Festival. Additionally, Melissa has participated in fellowships through NBCU Original Voices and NewportFilm Lab.
